What we do

Our Vision:

We envision a world where every child feels safe, valued, and free to dream, no matter their background or past experiences. Cocoon Homes aspires to redefine institutional care across India, moving away from confinement and toward healing and empowerment.

Our Mission:

Cocoon Homes exists to create safe, nurturing, and enriching environments for children who have experienced trauma and adversity. Our mission is to ensure each child in institutional care receives the emotional support, education, and environment they need to build resilience, hope, and a positive future.

Problem Cocoon Homes aims to solve

Cocoon Homes is addressing the lack of a supportive and nurturing environment for children in child care institutions who have faced difficult and traumatic experiences, like abuse, abandonment, or exploitation.

Often, these children feel isolated, misunderstood, and sometimes even punished, which can harm their mental and emotional well-being. Cocoon Homes aims to create a space where these children feel safe, cared for, and empowered to heal and grow, offering counseling, trauma informed care, friendly environments, and activities that make them feel valued and supported.

This image shows a sad girl sitting curled up with her head on her knees. Above her, large text reads, "PROTECTION WITHOUT CARE IS CONFINEMENT," emphasizing emotional support's importance alongside safety.

Our Interventions:

Welcome to Cocoon Homes, where we believe every child deserves to feel loved, safe, and cared for, even in childcare institutions. Our mission is to transform these institutions into spaces filled with joy, learning, and hope. Let me share with you how we bring this vision to life through five special interventions  inspired by the magic of a playground:

1. Slide

At Cocoon Homes, we create an environment where children can play freely while learning about their rights and legal processes. We turn what could feel overwhelming into something fun and empowering, making every child feel welcomed and protected.

Seesaw

Life in an institution can be an emotional seesaw—one moment up, the next moment down. That’s why we offer counseling in a way that feels natural and friendly. Picture a child and a counselor chatting while gently seesawing together—because healing feels easier with a friend by your side. Therefore, we would call this counsellor “DOST” which is friend in Hindi language

2. Swing
Swinging is all about feeling free and supported. To help children swing above their fears and past traumas, we train caregivers in trauma-informed care. These caregivers become trusted allies, helping children soar higher with each swing, knowing they’re not alone.

3. Playhouse
Imagine stepping into a bright, cheerful playhouse with colorful walls, natural sunlight, clean water, and safe spaces. That’s what we aim to create in every child care institution—a place where children not only feel safe but also feel happy, inspired, and loved.

4. Trampoline
When a child leaves the institution, it’s like stepping onto a trampoline—full of hope, ready to jump and bounce into life. But this journey can feel risky if their healing isn’t complete. Just like a trampoline needs a safety net, these children need support. That’s where our social workers and counselors come in, acting as their safety net. They catch the child if they stumble, guiding them with care and ensuring they keep moving forward. With this support, children can heal fully, grow stronger, and leap into a brighter, more confident future.
